At least there is a metaphor

I fully expect Presidential aspirant and "base" Uriah Heep impersonator Marco Rubio to appear in Key Biscayne to hold back the sea...although King Canute at least believed the tides actually occurred.
The collapse of the western Antarctic ice sheet is inevitable and is already underway, scientists said on Monday. The melt will cause up to four metres (13 feet) of additional sea-level rise over the coming centuries, devastating low-lying and coastal areas around the world – from Bangladesh to New Jersey – that are already expected to be swamped by only a few feet of sea-level rise.
Oops, nevermind, still several centuries of lying ahead.
But the researchers said the sea-level rise – while unstoppable – was still several centuries off, potentially up to 1,000 years away.
Oh that will make consensus possible. [cross-posted at Firedoglake]

Rubio could even have the Biscayne Bay lashed 300 times, but it wouldn’t matter.

Paul Ryan’s the Republican presidential nominee in 2016. It’s his turn.

Well, thanks a lot! Now I can't listen to Easy Living without equating it with Rubio's lavish lifestyle on wingnut welfare!!!

Rubio et alia live on some alternate plane. Their time, climate, ethics, et cetera are barely similar to ours.

Paraphrasing Al Gore, this is simply craven sucking up to the Koch Bros, so politicians can finance their phony baloney careers. Civilization itself could be at risk, and these despicable scum don't care.

In order not to jeopardize their funding, academics always have to caveat their analysis. Remember global warming was decades away just a few years ago. Now we're already past the point of no return.
